New Logos

Common Ground Colchester is a community cooperative created to meet the common social, economic and cultural needs of the local community. The Coop runs a café called the Commons Café and Community Space.

The Café, based in the iconic Minories Art Gallery and its beautiful garden, has become a space loved by the local community for its food, camaraderie and heritage.

The Coop and the more public facing café needed its identity to reflect the same values and convey the beauty of the community it serves.

The new identity for the Coop as well as the Café is inspired by the Coop spirit and values in its illustrated and hand lettered form.

The Inspirations and explorations

Social Media templates

The templates were inspired by the circular form of the logo.

the manifesto

The community came up with different circles inspired by the identity to manage different tasks for the Coop and the Café. One of the circles (Marc D’eath, Jo Nancarrow, Ben Philp, Emma Chesters, Marley Karazimba, Anisha Thampy and Dwarka Nath Sinha) came up with the vision, mission and values for the Coop which was then designed into a Riso-printed flyer cum poster to share with the community.
